Bart's PE Builder helps you build a 'BartPE' (Bart Preinstalled Environment) bootable Windows CD-Rom or DVD from the original Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 installation/setup CD, very suitable for PC maintenance tasks.
No I mean like the old Linux they would let you create a boot floppy that pointed into the Linux installed on your HD. If the boot sector got hosed you just booted the floppy and it loaded the Linux off the HD. Once running Linux off the HD you could just reinstall your boot loader or fix whatever. Windows hasn't figured out how to do the same trick.
When I started having problems with my drive I did what I suggested to you, use fixmbr. And damn did it make a mess out of my system. I went from 2 partitions of almost equal size to 5 of random size and seen as unknown partition type. So it’s probably a good thing you didn’t use it.
The warning was just too much for me to push the button!
Firey's PC is working just fine now - albeit we know there's a few bad sectors. Still, it's just for giggles and sh*ts, so nothing's lost if one day it goes down (cept for Firey's emails).
